OTTAWA, Canada (Reuters) — Canadian troops fighting Taliban militants in Afghanistan have stumbled across an unexpected and potent enemy — almost impenetrable forests of marijuana plants 10 feet tall.

“The challenge is that marijuana plants absorb energy, heat very readily. It’s very difficult to penetrate with thermal devices. … And as a result you really have to be careful that the Taliban don’t dodge in and out of those marijuana forests,” he said in a speech in Ottawa, Canada.
“We tried burning them with white phosphorous — it didn’t work. We tried burning them with diesel — it didn’t work. The plants are so full of water right now … that we simply couldn’t burn them,” he said.
Gotta love war…sounds like a scifi movie…BATTLE THE PLANTS…you have got to be kidding…we humans know what humans will do with these plants!!! Puff, puff. Also the last paragraph…tried white phosphorous, tried diesel…I bet they decided to use a match, rolling paper and a doobie clip! Unless the US Forces via Bechtel and Haliburton have some REALLY expensive BONGS developed specifically for this kind of terrain!

STOCKTON, California (CNN) — Former Rep. Mark Foley was molested by a clergyman when he was between the ages of 13 and 15, his attorney said Tuesday amid allegations that the congressman exchanged inappropriate e-mails and instant messages with teen congressional pages.
Well, I don’t know about you, but I feel MUCH BETTER about Foley! So it wasn’t him with warped pedophile values…it was HIS EXPERIENCE. I wonder if he ever had a peanut butter sandwich…that might also explain his behavior…or did he ever see a puppy dog…if I were him I would claim all his life experiences were responsible for his actions and NOT HE HIMSELF. Rice can’t remember warning of al-Qaeda attack
US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice says she cannot recall former CIA chief George Tenet warning her of an impending al-Qaeda attack in the United States, as a new book claims he did two months before the attacks on September 11, 2001.
“What I am quite certain of is that I would remember if I was told, as this account apparently says, that there was about to be an attack in the United States, and the idea that I would somehow have ignored that I find incomprehensible,” Dr Rice said on Monday.
I love how convenient it is for this adminstration to claim it CAN’T REMEMBER things. They DON’T DENY IT…just can’t remember…like where the WMDs are in Iraq or where Bin Laden is/was/will be. WASHINGTON (CNN) — The top three Republicans in the House assailed Rep. Mark Foley Saturday over his e-mails to a teenage male page and said his resignation was not enough.
Calling the incident “an obscene breach of trust,” the congressmen released a statement saying, “[Foley's] immediate resignation must now be followed by the full weight of the criminal justice system.”
HONESTLY…does anyone expect less from the GOP…seems there are more of these people being locked up and resigning than not. Does any American VOTER expect to trust the people elected from thier party. Perhaps the DEMO are just lucky as many haven’t been caught…but statistically I don’t think another party could be that lucky! So…go GOP! Congress OKs 700 miles of fence on border with Mexico

WASHINGTON (AP) — Republicans will go into the elections with a message that they’ve made great strides fighting illegal immigration, including authorizing a fence along one-third of the U.S.-Mexico border and making a $1.2 billion down payment on it.
Among its final tasks before leaving to campaign, the Senate on Friday night passed and sent to President Bush a bill authorizing 700 miles of fencing on the nearly 2,000-mile long southern border.
Let us 2,000 divided by 700 times 1.2 billion = 4,200,000,000 dollars. FIRST I hear Bush is unaware that the entire border is 2,000 miles long…I hear he has a hard time visualizing numbers over 999…his aids try to simplify everything and of course, CONGRESS doesn’t want to confuse him either plus just quoting part of the total make it seem much more reasonable. Sort of like how the airlines advertise the price of 1/2 a round trip…with a note in small letters saying a round trip ticket is required. Then there is the public who will easily accept a little number like 1.2 billion rather than the whole number fully displayed…4,200,000,000. People might be upset if they SAW what was being spent by the government. BTW, when was the last time your saw the total spending in Iraq and Afghanistan?
